In addition to checking the Yahoo! Finance Headlines, you should also check another source, such as Google News, by entering your stock's symbol on that News page.

Again, the greater your perspective on your stock, the greater your ability to predict share price trends, given what you find out is affecting your company, as well as your company's competitors.  The image at right, and link below, takes you to that page.  Simply enter your own stock symbol to search for the most current related news items that include mentions of that symbol in their stories.

While information changes each minute, you should scan these news headlines for positive and negative opinions about your stock, its competitors, and any pending government legislation that could negatively or positively affect your stock.

This could give you an advance opportunity, and prompt you to buy or sell given these news points, in advance of the reaction from the big money managers who will significantly move the share price depending on the news.  This can mean real money saved (if selling) or gained (if buying) by you if you react to the news before the big fund managers who have much more power to affect the share price.

Additionally, individual stories are important, but you may start to realize an emerging trend of, say, negative news stories about your company, indicating a pessimistic attitude toward your stock, and that you should consider selling, if other factors you seek also support this possible reason to sell your position.
